The
results are in.....
At the January 25th Board Meeting,
the winner of the buckpole story contest was selected.
Because this wasn't a contest based on writing skill,
trophy size, length of story or typographical accuracy,
the only "fair" way to decide was to number each story
and have a number "drawn". This way everyone has an even
and equal chance of winning. I secretly numbered each of
the stories and our Membership Coordinator Mark Johnson
called out a number.
The winner of the drawing, believe
it or not, was Mike Alexander for his turkey hunting
story found
here. I swear
it wasn't rigged (I can hear it now) and I can assure
you that the prize, a new tree-stand, will probably be
placed right back into the pot since it was donated by
Mike in the first place.
I want to thank all of the people
who submitted their stories to the buck pole page and
again apologize for not being at the Annual Meeting. I
sure wish this drawing would have happened at the Annual
Meeting to remove any doubts that may result. But just
remember, Mike submitted 2 stories so he had twice the
chances of anyone else.
I hope that more of our members
will submit their buckpole stories next year. And if you
have a story for this year, please don't be discouraged
from submitting it just because the "contest" is over.
I'd still love to post your story and photos and our
visitors would still love to read about your trophy. And
remember.... there's always next year! And by next year
I hope to have more and bigger prizes. |
This is where our members can share their
stories of past hunts and other interesting tales. If you have a
story you'd like to share, please send it to me and I'll post it
here for others to enjoy. And for those of you who may have a story
worth sharing but you don't think of yourself as a writer or story
teller - just remember - we're hunters and archers - not authors.
Don't think you have to impress us with
your writing skills either. We don't care about your grammar or your
ability to construct a sentence. We just want to hear about your
hunt. You can even submit your story anonymously if you're a little
shy or if you aren't sure about your writing. Just remember two
things - A) I can try to fix it if it's too bad. And B) none of us
care about HOW you write it - we just want to hear about your hunt!
So send in your story (along with a photo if
possible) and share your hunt with
the rest of us. YOU can decide if you want others to know who wrote
it. So right after you read the stories on this page, start typing
away about your own adventure so we can enjoy it too. Then just
email it to the
webmaster. Trust me, even
a poorly written hunting story is enjoyable to a fellow hunter so
you don't have to be a professional writer - just send it in.
